I have received a response to my letter, sent last week, seeking an urgent update as to the high street regeneration project. See the response
I’m grateful to Ms Kemp for responding.
The letter confirms that the project is still very much going ahead, despite rumours to the contrary, and it’s welcome that we have some clarity as to the timeframes.
Whilst I’d like the works to happen more quickly – and will continue pushing for urgency – it’s clear that the project requires complex purchasing of private land, and negotiation with landlords and shopkeepers for arrangements for their businesses during the building work. This does take time. But we must also keep the council’s feet to the fire to ensure these latest timeframes, at the very least, are kept to.
I still want the council to commit to further communications and updates with the public. At the moment, this is not good enough.
That’s why I am going to organise a meeting in the autumn, for everyone, to ensure the Dinnington community is aware of the progress and can ask any questions and raise any issues.
I will be keeping everyone up to date.
