I was very excited to see the progress towards the completion of the upgrades to Harthill Reservoir during a site visit with the Canal and River Trust and the local councillor, Marnie Harvard. Works are moving ever closer to completion, with construction to be completed in the next few weeks.
During the visit, I raised the concerns of residents, who have been disrupted by noise, traffic and dust during the construction period. They reassured me that residents should begin to see the winding down of construction works. We also discussed the impact of the delayed work on residents.
The finished upgrades will be a very welcome and improved asset to Harthill, with the new path around the reservoir improving accessibility for people using wheelchairs or mobility scooters or parents with buggies. The relaunch of the reservoir will be an exciting time for sailing, fishing and swimming, and I will do all I can to support the success of these activities once the works are complete.
