On Friday, I held a public meeting at The Lyric Dinnington, alongside Chris Read, Leader of Rotherham Council, and Simon Moss, Assistant Director of Planning, Regeneration and Transport at Rotherham Council.
The council gave an informative presentation about the plans for the regeneration scheme and gave updates on the current timeline of the project.
One thing is clear – everyone wants this project to happen. It is a real opportunity to rejuvenate the high street and to bring a much needed facelift to the heart of Dinnington. Unfortunately, the project cannot begin construction until the council has acquired all of the relevant properties on the high street. Last month, the council passed the use of Compulsory Purchase Order powers to enable the acquisition of the remaining properties. I will continue to keep residents updated with the progress of the project.
The meeting was very well attended, which is testament to how many residents in the surrounding area care about the success of the project and I would like to reiterate that the council and myself, as your local MP, will do all we can to deliver this project for Dinnington.
