Harthill Public Meeting

I was pleased to hold a public meeting in Harthill last week. Thank you to all the residents who braved the cold and icy paths to attend! ❄️

The main topic of discussion was Harthill Reservoir, with questions from residents about the overall cost of the project, the path around the reservoir, parking arrangements, biodiversity and fish stocks, and the source of funding for the fishing platforms (which have been granted planning permission). Please be assured that I have passed on all the issues raised to the Canal and River Trust and will update residents as soon as I have any further information.

Other topics included Active Travel plans to improve connectivity for walking and cycling between Harthill, Woodall, Wales and Kiveton Park, as well as the proposed Whitestone Solar Project around Harthill, Woodall and beyond. I am aware that residents are concerned about the extent of the proposal and are awaiting further details about the plans.

Next week, I have a meeting with the company behind the project, Whitestone, to find out more information about the proposal. At this stage, I am as informed as everyone else who has had the flyer through their doors! I will update residents with any further information I receive about the proposal.

There will be a consultation event for the solar farm in the village on Tuesday 3rd December from 2 to 6pm at Harthill Village Hall.
