Yesterday I held a street surgery with residents in Hellaby to discuss early proposals for a new housing development near Bateman Road.
Residents raised concerns about overdevelopment, increased traffic, pressure on local roads, loss of green space, impact on wildlife, light pollution from past developments, and a lack of transparency from developers.
I want to be clear: I do not support these plans and will try my utmost to protect Hellaby from this particular application. Whilst I believe we need new housing in our country, Hellaby has had extraordinary development before my time as our MP and, amongst other concerns, the amount of traffic and noise it would cause is not acceptable. I also want to protect green areas wherever possible.
I will be seeking a meeting with the developers to get answers and ensure residents are kept fully informed. Planning decisions are not mine to take but I want to make my views clear.
