Royal Mail Update

As many of you are aware, I met with representatives from the senior management team at Royal Mail last week. I want to be clear, that the current level of service and delivery across the Rother Valley area is not acceptable, with people missing important letters, documents and parcels.

Although I was reassured that all outstanding mail will be delivered before Christmas, I am concerned that adequate steps have not been taken by management teams to alleviate the pressure. Given that a similar situation occurred last year, I am deeply frustrated that appropriate steps have not been taken to train and hire new staff, with this again being cited as the main reason for missed deliveries.

I will continue to meet with representatives at Royal Mail on both a local and national level, to ensure that a plan is in place to get mail out in good time.

I want to also ask people to avoid directing abuse or anger at local posties, who are working tirelessly, delivering around the clock to maintain the service to the best of their ability.
