Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, a time for us to remember the six million Jewish men, women and children murdered by during the Holocaust and to commemorate the many others killed during Nazi persecution.
The Holocaust Memorial Trust wish for people to use this as a time of reflection, but also as a time to act. Whether by lighting a candle, learning through education, attending a ceremony or taking time to reflect, there are many meaningful ways to take part.
In a time where hatred and prejudice is on the rise across communities, this day is more significant than ever. I stand with all those enduring hateful attacks and pledge to speak out against antisemitism and all forms of hatred.
On behalf of residents across Rother Valley, I was honoured to sign the book of remembrance on Holocaust Memorial Day.
We will never forget the horrors of the Holocaust, and the evil of antisemitism – and work tirelessly to ensure it never happens again.
We know that antisemitic abuse and violence is on the rise. We have to all do more to confront it.
