Meet Tony Hudgell

,

Tony is 11 years old. When he was a baby, he was physically abused by his biological parents meaning he lost both his legs.

He, and his incredible adopted parents, Paula and Mark, have been campaigning for 8 years for a Child Cruelty Register.

When I was appointed a government minister their campaign came across my desk. I was determined to make a difference. I met with Paula and Tony to discuss how we can make the register happen, to protect children from cruel violent offenders.

I’m delighted I was able to make this happen. This is what the best part of politics is about.

Yesterday, I took Tony and his Mum and Dad to Downing Street to meet the Prime Minister Keir Starmer

This was a profound and important moment for them. There is a lot more work to do to protect children from harm. But I’m pleased, in a small way, we’ve been able to make a difference.
