I’ve written to First Bus to challenge their plans to temporarily suspend the 216 and X5 services.

This decision would effectively cut off parts of Kiveton, Wales and Wales Bar, leaving elderly residents, young people and workers without reliable transport. That’s simply not acceptable.

If works are needed, then proper alternatives must be provided. Other areas have had shuttle buses and coordinated routes, and our communities deserve the same.

I’ve asked First Bus to urgently review this and set out how they will ensure no one is left stranded, and will keep you updated on their response.
