I am very aware of the long-standing and incredibly frustrating issues at this junction. The traffic, especially at rush hour, is horrendous but perhaps more importantly is the number of accidents that occur here. That is why I arranged for representatives of the council, and local councillors from Treeton and Swallownest, to attend a meeting at the site. I have demanded that the council’s road management team set out to residents what the realistic options are for this stretch of road. Once I have been informed as to these, we can begin to see what steps we can take. I will be holding a meeting with residents to discuss these options and how we can take them forward.
I am aware that money is tight for local authorities and I know they have lots of priorities, but when so many residents raise this issue with me, I will do everything I can to act. I am happy to work with anyone on this, so please do get in touch if you have any suggestions or specific concerns, and look out for the public meeting in due course.
