Appointed as Government Minister

I’m delighted to have been appointed as a government Minister – the first MP for Rother Valley to be in government since 1942!

My new job is in the Ministry of Justice. I’m determined to help fix our broken justice system, which fails victims and means too many people feel unsafe in their own neighbourhoods. This won’t happen overnight, but I’ll do my best to improve our great country. It’s an honour to serve as a member of his Majesty’s government.

This appointment won’t change my most important job – as our MP. I’m looking forward to getting back to Yorkshire tomorrow, and am holding various surgeries across the constituency in coming days. And my role in government means I will only have a stronger voice in making calls for the investment and change we need in our communities.

As ever, if you have a question or anything I can help with – please email jake.richards.mp@parliament.uk.
