PUBLIC MEETING: SPEEDING and TRAFFIC CONCERNS IN SITWELL, WHISTON and WICKERSLEY
Since being elected last month, I’ve been inundated with really concerning reports of an increase in speeding and traffic issues. These reports vary from boy racers, to rat runs, to people simply ignoring the speed limit and the need for traffic calming measures.
I’m determined to play my role in improving the situation.
Earlier this week, I wrote to the Chief Constable of SY police raising concerns and inviting Officers to attend a public meeting on 6th August. They have confirmed receipt, but have not yet committed to officers attending. I hope they will.
Nonetheless, I’m keen for a public meeting to show the strength of feeling on this issue and to also begin to scope the problems more formally for the police, and other authorities, to consider.
Please do join, and share this post so others can see (as won’t have time to post letters to the whole community).
