I met with National Grid regarding the ‘Brinsworth’ project, also known as the Whiston project. Due to current limitations at the Brinsworth substation, a new 400kV substation is required to upgrade the energy capacity from 275kV to 400kV. This upgrade is essential to ensure we can meet the increased energy demands in our area. The planning application will be submitted in early 2025 and if approved, construction is set to begin in the summer of 2026, with the project becoming fully operational by winter 2029. During the meeting, I asked about the impact of the project on our local environment, and the possible increase in noise pollution and disruption to the village during the construction. I will be keeping a close eye on the application and continue to meet with National Grid.
