It was wonderful to meet Y6 yesterday to speak to them about their Eco-School success. The class have formed an Eco-Committee and have worked through the seven steps to achieve Eco-School accreditation, which is a wonderful achievement. The class were really keen for other schools to work towards becoming an Eco-School.
The Eco-Committee have organised litter picks in their school grounds and around the community in Kiveton Park. During one of their litter picks they collected three bags of litter! They have also placed recycling bins in every classroom and have big plans to rewild parts of their school grounds to encourage biodiversity.
I was really impressed with the questions they asked about the environment and my role as an MP. They were a credit to the school.
We also discussed the jobs they would like to do when they’re older. Lots of footballers, an astronaut, a vet, a doctor and even a blacksmith!
Thank you for having me and keep up the hard work!
